"For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." ~ Isaiah 43:19
As I read the above scripture, I thought with a sinking heart, "Oh Lord, am I going to be walking through a wilderness?!" Fear started to overtake me because I believe my next test will require a giant leap of faith to accomplish whatever God calls me to do, and that wreaks havoc with my faith and my courage! Instead of focusing on, "I will make a pathway...and create rivers..." I focused on the wilderness and the dry wasteland. So typical of me!
However, this time when I had that thought, God gave me a vision of walking into this very bleak desert wasteland, but with every step I took, the desert bloomed and came to life all around me; grass grew under my feet before they even touched the ground, flowers bloomed and streams of water with little waterfalls bubbled along beside me! It was SO powerful! With every step forward, God was bringing life to the desert around me! It was almost like a scene out of a Disney movie running through my mind. Then He whispered, “This desert will not change you, as has happened in the past. This time, together, we will change the desert around you.”
Then, instead of seeing only the wilderness, I was suddenly excited at the prospect of witnessing God's provision even though there is no logical explanation for how He will deliver it. He recently told me, "The thing that has been your security, has now become your containment." He has told me that I will not be able to progress beyond my current circumstances or step out and walk upon the deep water if I do not step out in faith. But with every step, He is faithful to prepare me to meet the next test; and with every test I pass, my faith becomes even stronger! Case in point: He has been after me for years to become debt free. Earlier this year He told me to cut up my credit card, and after some discussion (crying, begging pleading on my part!) I faced my fear and, with trembling hands, I obeyed. Within about a week, I received an unexpected bonus at work that more than paid off the balance of that card. God is faithful all the time! Now I have that as a “stepping stone” to produce greater faith within me.
Even though our tests may grow increasingly daunting, God is faithful to give us exactly what we need so we will have the faith and the knowledge required of us to meet every challenge...if only we will trust Him!!!
Prayer: Father God, who am I that You would consider blessing me in Your service? I have messed up so many times I cannot even count them all, yet in Your grace, You tell me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. You continually reassure me that my feet are on the right path - the path that leads to Your ultimate blessing – and that I will see your goodness here in the earth, as well as in Heaven. Whatever Your will is for my life, Lord, let it be unto me in accordance with Your will. I love You and want more of You in my life, in Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
