What in the World...???

“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know

about things to come.” Jeremiah 33:3

Once upon a time, an ancient book of mysteries was supernaturally breathed into life by the God of all that exists, and was transcribed through the pens of wise men, kings and prophets. Those who have read it say it holds nearly incomprehensible parables and secrets concerning the destiny of the earth and all who live in it. It speaks of ancient history, magical beasts, devils, angels, giants, epic battles on earth and in the heavens, and fantastic miracles beyond the ordinary realm of human capability. It is said to foretell the future, and that it can even help determine the fortunes of men. Many people discount its Truth, and even scoff at those who believe its secrets. They say it no longer holds value or power because it has been diluted through repeated translations. But still, the true value in its message remains hidden within its pages, and those who believe often witness miracles, and see fortunes rise and fall as a result of their faith and following its principles. In truth, that book - the Bible - is God’s love letter to mankind…which is the greatest mystery of all.

There is no denying something is going on: earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, floods, tsunamis, blood moons, solar eclipses, famines, incurable diseases, terrorism on a global scale, wars, racial and ethnic divisions, unreasoning hatred and chaos on a global scale. With all that going on, you may have heard a few references to the End Times.*

In less than two weeks, on Saturday, September 23, 2017, the sun will set at 6:35pm in Jerusalem, Israel (10:35am Central Time in the U.S.) That is the final day of Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets. The year 2017 is also the year 5777 on the Hebrew calendar – more commonly written “777” - and is known as the year of God’s perfection and completion. September 23rd will also see the culmination of the Revelation 12 sign** that has been percolating in the Heavens for the last 9+ months. This year, 2017 or 5777, is a double Jubilee year. Jubilee years occur once every 50 years, and usually see amazing things happen for God’s people. For example:

· In 1917, General Allenby signed the Balfour Declaration, laying the foundation for the Jewish state of Israel to be formed.

· In 1947, the United Nations signed the Partition to divide Palestine into two states: Israel and Palestine, and opened the door for the Jews to officially become a nation the following year.

· In 1967, with the Six-Day War victory, Jerusalem was reunited, the Jews took possession of their Promised Land, and for the first time in 1,850 years, were able to pray again at the Western Wall.

Why, you may ask, does Jewish history concern me? What does all that have to do with Biblical prophecy and the end times? It all started with the Israelites: God’s Chosen People. As Christians, our future is inextricably linked to theirs, and God’s Word tells us He will bless the nation that blesses Israel. No one knows what will happen at the end of the 2017 Jubilee, but many people in the world are holding their collective breath. Given the signs and events happening in the world today in light of Biblical prophesy, combined with many more prophecies that have been given through the last several hundred years, it seems more than a coincidence that all these things are converging on this one date. And, yes, God still speaks through prophets today. Romans 12:4-8 lists Prophecy as the first of His spiritual gifts, and that is still relevant for Christians today.

One such prophecy was given over 900 years ago by Rabbi Judah ben Samuel, who prophesied many events with very specific timelines, and they have all come true...so far. His final prophecy, however, was that this year, 5777 (or 2017) would be the end of the Church Age and the beginning of the Messianic Age. Does that mean we are on the verge of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation and the return of Jesus? Although we can’t know for sure…that is why it is called “faith” instead of “knowledge”. It is always dangerous to try to put God in a box, but I would not bet against it. After all, 2,000 years ago the Magi read the signs in the sky and got to see the Messiah. We not only have signs in the sky, but we have an acceleration of events in the world that the Bible specifically tells us will happen at the end of days.

One of the catalytic events of the Great Tribulation, and the only one with a definite timeline, is the rebuilding of the Third Temple in Jerusalem…and they have everything ready to build it as soon as they are given the green light (see www.templeinstitute.org). The only thing preventing that is the necessary peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians, which our President and world leaders are working on now.

There is too much information to include in this short blog; I am just hitting some of the important points. I urge you to do your own research and come to your own conclusions,. I have listed some sources below to help direct you to some of the people and programs I follow. I sincerely believe our time here is very short. God wants every single person in His creation to know Jesus and to experience a deeply meaningful love relationship with Him that only He can offer. Pray and get your heart right before God. Draw near to Jesus and invite the Holy Spirit to fill your heart and direct your prayers.

God is about to do a new thing, and He does not want anyone to miss the unimaginable blessings He is going to pour out on His people very soon. Time spent with God is your love letter back to Him, and a humble, teachable heart brings Him great delight.

Prayer: Father God, we cannot begin to imagine or understand the mysteries of Your great and wondrous plan for the salvation of this world. We humbly ask that You forgive us of our sins, cleanse us and cover us with the blood of Jesus, fill us with Your Holy Spirit, teach us what we need to know, and open our minds as You guide us through the coming days. We want to know You, love You and serve You more fully. Draw us ever closer to You and wrap us in Your love, in Jesus’ name, amen.

“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’ But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.” Matthew 25:1-13

First (always), the Bible: The End Time Prophecies are largely detailed in the Biblical books of Revelations, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel (Chapter 9:24-27, through Chapter 12), and Matthew (Chapter 24).
