“And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years.’” - Genesis 1:14 (NIV)
“Then a great pageant appeared in heaven, portraying things to come…” Revelation 12:1
We have all had that moment when the photographer shouts, “Say CHEESE!” only then to hesitate, or look questioningly at the camera. Your big smile freezes and you hold it…the photographer fumbles, your eyes need to blink, your cheeks start to twitch, and your picture-perfect smile falters just as you hear “click.” You look at the photo and there you are, eyelids half closed, a crooked half smile that looks more like a grimace, and you say, “Oh no! Do over!” Sometimes when you get a second chance, the picture turns out exactly as you had hoped and everyone looks great.
If only do-overs in life were that easy. If only we could always be ready when the big things happen instead of being caught off-guard, wishing we would have had more time to prepare for the unexpected. With all that is going on in our world today, it is a good idea to focus on the things that are really significant in life rather than just living reactively in our momentary self-involvement.
The year 2017 on the Hebrew calendar is 5777 and is known as the year of God’s grace, perfection and completion. (Even as I type this, there are things happening in the constellations that have not been seen in over 2,000 years, and some have never been seen or recorded before in this exact configuration...the one that is also seen in Revelation 12 as the first sign.)* Looking at world events, things are moving rapidly toward what could become an extremely significant peace treaty for the Middle East. If you take these, and many of the other things that are happening, as individual occurrences (blood moons, solar eclipses, earthquakes, wars, rising anti-Semitism, etc.), they don’t seem that significant; but when you add them together in light of the Biblical prophecies of what will come, you will see a convergence of amazing signs pointing the way to things that are foretold in the Bible, which assures us that God’s people will not be caught unaware. He set the stars in the sky to provide signs for His people, and His Word provides ample evidence to let us know ahead of time what is coming; we only need to pay attention. God’s Word does not give us the date or the hour, but it does provide signs that indicate the season. Some Wise Men saw signs in the stars that told of a King to be born about 2,000 years ago, and just look what happened then.
The Bible tells us the Rapture will happen and Jesus Christ will return. It sounds like something out of a fairy tale, but it is God’s truth. It. Will. Happen. Just because it has not happened yet does not mean it won’t; and if you take into account all of the current signs around us, chances are good it will happen soon. When it does, there will be no more do-overs. Are you ready...?

Prayer: Our most gracious heavenly Father, thank you for your infinite patience and loving concern for your people. Forgive us when we fail to see life from Your perspective and help us to open our hearts to receive Your Truth. Open our eyes and our minds to see what You would have us see, and give us the discernment to sort out the lies of the enemy from Your Truth. Help us to believe, even the things that seem to be too fantastical to be credible…things that Your Word assures us will happen someday. Forgive us for becoming complacent - almost to the point of unbelief - because the things prophesied in Your Word have been delayed for so long. We love You, praise You and believe in the Truth of Your Word. We ask this in the precious, holy name of Jesus Christ, our Messiah, Savior and Lord, amen.
“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” – Matthew 24:44
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.” – Matthew 24:32
“For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.” – Matthew 24:38-41
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
“‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” - Matthew 25:1-13
“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.” - Revelation 12:1-2
“From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.” - Daniel 12: 11-12
