Made for a Purpose
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17
“…and then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.” Phillippians 2:16
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” John 6:9
A tired young mother gets up early to make a lunch for her son. He’s going off to spend the day with some friends and she wants to make sure he eats healthy food. Her efforts go unnoticed, taken for granted, just what she’s supposed to do. She is no one special; just a wife and mom; and her son is just another boy. It won’t be until much later that she discovers, with awe and wonder, that the simple lunch of 2 broiled fish and 5 small loaves of bread she woke up early to make would be blessed and used to feed over 5,000 people.
When I start to wonder why I am here and question my value or significance in this world, God gently reminds me that my life is so valuable to Him that He gave up the life of His only son so I could live with Him when my time comes to leave this world. That thought compels me to try again… to do whatever He asks in gratitude for what He has done for me. Of all the blessings and abundance I want in this life, this close relationship with Him is the most precious gift of all. No matter how insignificant you may feel, you are also here for a purpose. Give Him your life and just watch and see what He does!
Prayer: Father, I praise you because your Word says I am wonderfully made and that your plan and your purpose will be fulfilled in my life. Everything I am, everything I have came from you. I give it all back to you today asking only that your purpose would be fulfilled in my life. Thank you for making me useful in your service. I love you and praise you in Jesus’ name, amen.
